The Step-by-Step Approach Organising National Campaigns

Charles Nii Ayiku
03 Mayo 2005

STEP ONE: You must understand the concept that has been handed over to you, this can be done by carefully looking at the document and trying to visual its success, you must also develop an interest in the concept and promise your self you will do it.

STEP TWO: Your understanding of the document can then help you to plan what to do next. In planning you must consider the following:

  • Countries that you want to organize a national campaign
  • Language
  • Youth organizations in ICT and Volunteering
  • Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies
  • Other institutions in ICT, youth and volunteering

NB: You can seek assistance from the web through search engines e.g., Google, journals and other publications

STEP THREE: After a careful thought of a good plan, you then try identifying focal points from these countries with the help of the website, journals and other publications.

STEP THREE: When you are able to identify them, you try to list them down with their email addresses, telephone, fax, and other contacts. This you can use to establish a database.

STEP FOUR: You now have to communicate with these contacts introducing the concepts to them, this can be done by sending them proposals, or just formal introductory letters these may include a toolkit that will include action plans, strategy document and other useful information and related websites. Do not be surprised if you do not get quick responses, some may respond, other may not all delay in responding. Some you need to make follow-ups with calls, emails and faxes. Also remember that some of these people may want further explanations about the concept. Do not be discouraged, be patient and persevere.

STEP FIVE: At this point you may have received some positive responses from some of the contacts, and you have to move forward. Do not forget to encourage them to understand the concepts as well as own the projects in their various countries.
